Camp Knife – Part 3

I got the handle on and polished the blade a few weeks ago. Next I've got to work on a sheath - right now I am protecting the blade with a cardboard blade cover I cut from a cereal box.

Camp Knife – Part 2

I got the bevels filed, and the blade sanded to get rid of the file marks. At this point it is ready for heat-treating. (In reality, I am currently a lot further along on this knife than these photos show - I just haven't caught up with photos yet. Stay tuned for an update that shows the real status.)

Camp Knife – Part 1

I've started working on a camp knife in the drop point hunter pattern. I'm starting with O1 (oil-hardening) tool steel, and using the stock removal method (rather than forging). So far, I've got the rough shape cut out and filed down to my layout lines, and I've built the jig I will use to file the bevels.
