Pascetti

Sean had his first attempt at eating spaghetti the other day. It wasn't nearly as messy as we had expected. He was actually fairly successful at getting it into his mouth!

Brrrrrrrr!

Just kidding. It isn't quite cold here yet. We took Sean to the park today to let him play in the river - mostly for the photo-op. But he was a little tired so we didn't get much. But the previous day, Lori had him try on his new winter outfit - including stylish little hat - and caught a couple of Kodak moments. Doesn't he look so evil in the last picture?

The Dead Hensons

A friend recently turned me on to a cover band called "The Dead Hensons". They cover Jim Henson tunes, mostly from the Muppets and Sesame Street. Very cool. Brings back lots of memories. They used to have more free tracks on their website - including Rainbow Connection, Ladybug Picnic, and Mahna Mahna. I'll scour the web a little harder and see if those are still available anywhere, as those were their best tracks. Check out the link - The Dead Hensons!

Scenes from Space #9

This image was taken by Cassini on a recent fly-by of Saturn's moon Hyperion. It's a false-color image of the moon, in order to bring out more crater detail in the surface. In natural color, Hyperion has more of a reddish tint. The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency.

Beautiful Day!

We are having such a beautiful day here! It is about 70 degrees, with a steady, 10+ mph wind. We've got all the windows open - for the first time since May. It was actually cold enough outside to require pants for Lori and me, and long sleeves for Sean. In fact, it's chilly enough in the house right now (just after dark), that I am thinking of putting on a warmer shirt. I love it!

Kite #6 – Dopero

My latest kite is a 3/4-size Dopero. This kite is especially designed to fly in the lightest of barely-there winds. I tried it for the first time today, and it flew great! I included some photos to give you an idea of the scale of this kite. It is huge! It is about 7 feet tall, and a little over 9 feet wide. Even in the very light wind we had this morning, I had a hard time reeling this kite back in. All that sail makes this kite pull really strong. It also seems to be really steady in the sky - so as soon as I can convince Lori to join me on an outing, I am going to try and take some aerial photos using this one.

Scenes from Space #8

As storms seem to be in the news a lot lately, I thought this image would be appropriate. It is an image of Jupiter's Great Red Spot, as seen by Voyager 1 when it flew by Jupiter in 1979. This storm has been observed from Earth for hundreds of years, and is big enough to fit three Earths inside of it!
